Premier League Darts Final Night

Tonight was the grand finale, the end to 15 weeks of extraordinary darts.  The final four players were Phil Taylor, Simon Whitlock, James Wade and Andy Hamilton.

The first match of the night was Whitlock vs Hamilton in which Whitlock hit the third ever 9-darter in the Premier League of Darts.  Simon when on to win that match 8-6.  This was one great match.  This match also assured Simon Whitlock of a place in the Final against either Taylor or Wade.

Next was Taylor vs James Wade.  This match also ended up 8-6 with Phil Taylor winning although it took him a while to turn the power up.

Next on the cards was the PDC Unicorn World Youth Championship Final which was between James Hubbard and Michael van Gerwin (MVG).  This match was very interesting as 19 year old Hubbard started the match very well as it took a few legs for MVG to get warmed up.  Hubbard won this match 6-3 to win his first (and I predict not last) World Youth Championship.  Both young players are certainly stars in the future of darts.

After this all 8 of the players from the Premier League took to the stage to perform their song for Charity “Got My Tickets For The Darts” which was performed along with Chaz Hodges.  You can see a preview here Got My Tickets For The Darts .

The Final came after this.  It began with Taylor storming into the lead, winning 5-1 at one stage.  But the man who comes from Down Under fought back to be drawing with Taylor 7-7.  What amazing playing on Whitlock’s half but the class of the now 6 time champion Phil Taylor took over and he went on to win the Premier League 10-7.  Giving credit where credit is due Phil Taylor, you did well and Simon Whitlock, you played well and i’m sure its not the last final we’ll see you in this year and hopefully next time you will be lifting the trophy.

Thank you PDC for an outstanding 15 weeks of darts and thank you Phil Taylor, Simon Whitlock, Gary Anderson, Adrian Lewis, Andy Hamilton, James Wade, Kevin Painter and Raymond van Barneveld for the entertainment you have given us.
