Last night was quite an intriguing night in the world of darts from the Capital FM Arena, Nottingham
The first match to be played on Thursday night was Kevin Painter vs Raymond Van Barneveld in which “Barney” won 8-6. It seems as though RVB is beginning to find some form in 2012. At one point in the match “Barney” was averaging 120!
The next match saw Adrian “Jackpot” Lewis beat “The Machine” James Wade 8-5. Lewis hit 6 180’s in his coming back from 4-2 to win the match.
As usual Phil “The Power” Taylor won his match against Andy Hamilton. This match was surprisingly close as Taylor won 8-6. Contrary to popular belief at the end of 2011 and the beginning of 2012 I don’t see “The Power” being switched off any time soon. Taylor has now qualified for the semi-final after winning this match.
It was great to see Gary Anderson back playing in the Premier League after the passing of his father, because Gary missed last week, due to the passing away of his father, he will play two matches next week. Gary met Simon Whitlock in Nottingham and was found wanting as “The Wizard” won with his 8-2 annihilation of the “Flying Scotsman.”
Still Phil Taylor is first but the others are close behind. The table looks like this so far:
1. Phil Taylor – 17 points
2. Simon Whitlock – 10 points
3. Raymond Van Barneveld – 10 points
4. Adrian Lewis – 9 points
5. James Wade – 8 points
6. Gary Anderson – 6 points (played 1 match less than the others)
7. Kevin Painter – 6 points
8. Andy Hamilton – 6 points
Now I cannot wait for next week when Phil Taylor takes on “Barney” (should be very tight considering both players are playing so well) and Anderson plays both Wade and Hamilton.
